POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team won its second straight game on Thursday night in Reed Gym, defeating Montana Western 80-48.
The Bengals (2-1) and had three players score in double figures, led by
Chier Maker with 18 points. Maker was 7-10 from the field, 4-6 from the three-point line and he had seven rebounds.
Malik Porter and
Tarik Cool each scored 10 points.
Idaho State shot 55.2 percent from the field and held Montana Western to 35 percent shooting.
The Bengals out rebounded Montana Western 41-22.
Chidi Udengwu played 23 minutes and grabbed nine boards.
Cool had six assists while
Coreyoun Rushin had five.
Idaho State led the entire game and the final score was the largest lead of the game.
ISU led 37-22 at halftime. The Bengals led 16-6 in the first eight minutes after a basket by Maker with 12:20 to play until halftime. The Bulldogs got within six at 18-12 but the Bengals quickly pulled away to lead by 14 at 28-14 with 5:51 left until the break after a basket by
Austin Smellie.
ISU maintained a 13-to-19 point lead for the first 10 minutes of the second half. With the score 57-39, the Bengals went on a 14-4 run to extend the margin to 70-43 with 3:12 remaining.

Will Reichelt and
Houston Wahlen made baskets in the final minute to extend the lead to 32.
Idaho State plays at Washington State on Sunday, Nov. 17. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. mountain time.
