Volleyball Preview: Montana State and Montana

Game Notes

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State volleyball concludes conference play this week hosting Montana State (Nov. 21) at 7 p.m. and Montana (Nov. 23) at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym. Senior day will be celebrated before Saturday's match at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for ISU students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or call 208-282-FANS for tickets and information.The matches will feature Live Video (Pluto TV Channel 543), Live Stats, and Audio brought to you by KISU 91.1.

Scouting Montana State
Montana State holds a 13-12 overall record and is 9-7 in Big Sky conference play. The Bobcats sit fourth in conference standings and have clenched a spot in the BSC Tournament. The Bengals fell to Montana State, 3-1, earlier this season on Oct. 19 in Bozeman, Mont. The Bobcats average 12.6 kills per set, giving up 13.1 kills per set. They attack for a .206 average. Defensively they record 15.6 digs and 2.3 blocks per set. 

Since 1978, ISU holds a 41-34 record over MSU and is 24-10 at home.

% Montana State Tournament

Montana State is led by third-year Head Coach Daniel Jones. In the 2018 season, Jones led the team back to the BSC Tournament for the first time since 2012 after going 11-19 overall and 6-12 in conference play. The Bobcats fell to Northern Arizona in the opening round of the tournament, 3-0.

Scouting Montana
Montana has an overall 6-21 record and sits ninth in the conference with a 5-11 conference record. ISU swept Montana, 3-0, earlier this season on Oct. 17 in Missoula Mont. The two teams are fighting for a spot in the BSC tournament which begins Nov. 28 in Sacramento, Calif. The Grizzlies average 11 kills per set and a .167 attacking percentage. Defensively, they average 13.8 digs per set and 2.2 blocks per set. 

Since 1978, Idaho State holds a 36-42 record against Montana and is 19-17 at home.

The program is led by third-year Head Coach Allison Lawrence. The Grizzles appeared in the BSC tournament in 2018 after compiling a 10-21 overall record and a 7-11 conference record. The team made it to the quarterfinals in the Big Sky tournament before falling to Idaho (3-0).
