Volleyball Preview: Weber State and Northern Colorado

POCATELLO, Idaho-
The Idaho State volleyball team is on the road for both of its matches this week against Weber State (Nov. 5) at 7 p.m. in Ogden, Utah and Northern Colorado (Nov. 9) at 7 p.m. in Greeley, Colo.

Weber State
The Bengals fell 3-1 to Weber State on Nov. 5 in Ogden, Utah. 

Taylor Meeks led the Bengals with 16 kills while Raegan Steiner and Brooke Pehrson each had nine. Pehrson also had seven blocks. Andri Dewey had 38 assists and Haylie Keck added 22 digs.

Northern Colorado
Northern Colorado has an overall 17-7 record and leads the conference with a 11-1 record. Their single conference loss was to Northern Arizona (3-0). The Bears average 13.3 kills per set and a .217 attacking percentage. Defensively, they average 14.5 digs per set and 1.5 blocks per set. 

Since 1980, Idaho State holds a 12-18 record against UNC and is 5-6 on the road. ISU fell to UNC (3-1) previously this season at home on Oct. 4. In 2018 the two teams matched-up twice with two Bengal victories (3-0 at home and 3-1 in Greeley, Colo.).

The program is led by 15-year Head Coach Lyndsey Oates. The Bears went 15-14 overall and 10-7 in the Big Sky Conference during the 2018 season. The team made it to Big Sky tournament semifnials before falling to Idaho (3-2).

Big Time Bengals (Based on Overall Season Stats)
Redshirt freshman Andri Dewey is ninth in the Big Sky with 521 assists for 7.04 per set.

Sophomore Mahala Bradburn is sixth in the BSC in digs with 402 for 4.23 per set.

Junior Taylor Meeks is fifth in the BSC in hitting percentage with a .319 average and tenth in blocks with 67.

Senior Brooke Pehrson is seventh in the BSC in service aces with 28.

Senior Haylie Keck is tenth in the BSC in digs with 334 for 3.52 per set.

The team leads the BSC in digs with 1,628 for an average of 17.14 per match.

Keck Nears Big Sky Dig Record
Keck is 192 digs away from becoming the All-Time dig leader in the Big Sky Conference. She currently has 2,164 digs and Kristin Lutes (Sac State, 2003-06) holds the record with 2,355 digs.
