Idaho State Prepares for Pacific

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team plays its final nonconference game on Dec. 22 at Pacific. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. mountain time and Jerry Miller will call the action live on 102.5 KMGI with the pregame show beginning 30 minutes prior to tipoff. Scouting Pacific
Pacific is 11-3. Pacific is scoring 70.4 points a game and holding teams to 59.4 points a game. The Tigers are shooting .472 percent from the field, .365 percent from the three-point line and .636 percent from the free throw line. Pacific averages 36.7 rebounds a game, 12.4 assists, 13.4 turnovers, 6.2 steals and 3.6 blocks a game. Jahlil Tripp leads the Tigers in scoring at 12.4 points a game while shooting .484 percent from the field. Justin Moore is scoring 11.4 points a game. Former Bengal Gary Chivichyan has played in all 14 games off the bench at 18.3 minutes and 8.9 points a game.

Recapping Last Week
- Idaho State lost 74-68 in overtime on Dec. 16 to UCSB.
- Idaho State led 63-55 with 1:35 left in regulation after a 3-pointer by Tarik Cool. UCSB then outscored the Bengals 8-0 in the final 1:35 to send the game into overtime. Idaho State was then held scoreless for the first three plus minutes of overtime to allow the Gauchos to take control of the game.
-Tarik Cool led the Idaho State offense with 21 points on eight of 16 shooting. Chier Maker had 17 points, Malik Porter 11 and Austin Smellie 10.
- Idaho State shot 46 percent from the field and was 9-25 from the three-point line but only made 11 free throws on 22 attempts. ISU was forced into 17 turnovers
- The Bengals were out rebounded 42-32. UCSB shot 42 percent from the field and made nine 3-pointers on 20 attempts. Devearl Ramsey led the Gauchos with 20 points.
- The Gauchos led the entire first half and held a 31-25 lead at halftime. Idaho State trailed 36-31 with 15:56 left in the game when it went on a 10-2 run to take its first lead of the game at 39-38 with 13:52 left after a 3 by Cool and then at 41-38 with 13:38 left in regulation after two Smellie free throws.
-  Idaho State led for the rest of regulation until Matt Freeman hit the game-tying three-pointer at 63 with 28 seconds left. The Bengals shot 54 percent from the field in the second half and held UCSB to 37 percent shooting. Cool scored 17 points in the second half, including all five overtime points.
- UCSB scored the first six points of overtime and ISU got no closer than three points in the extra period.

UCSB Notes 
- Tarik Cool played a season-best 37 minutes. He had a season-high six rebounds and three steals. 
- Jaxon Edelmayer played a season-best 13 minutes. 
- Malik Porter had a season-high four blocks and 11 points. 
- Austin Smellie played a season-high 24 minutes.
