Pocatello, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team fell 84-76 to Montana State on Thursday evening in Reed Gym.
Brandon Boyd led the Bengals with 22 points and three assists.
Kelvin Jones added 15 points and a game high 10 rebounds.
Gary Chivichyan had 14 points and two rebounds.
Alonzo Walker had 12 points and three rebounds.
The Bengals shot 51.9 percent from the field and made seven 3-pointers on 20 attempts. ISU was 13-18 from the free throw line. Montana State forced the Bengals into 13 turnovers.
Montana State shot 46 percent from the field and made 13 3-pointers on 30 attempts.Harold Frey led the Bobcats with 21 points and Keljin Blevins had 20.
"Montana State has a really good team and they came out and played really well," Idaho State coach
Bill Evans said. "They have two all-league guys and guys we wanted to try and stop. I thought our guys got after it. We didn't lose because we didn't try. We played hard. I think the biggest difference was that we turned the ball over 13 times."
The Bengals largest lead of the game was seven points at 45-38 following a free-throw by Boyd with 18:39 left in the game. Montana State then went on a 11-4 run to tie the game at 49 four minutes later. Over the next seven minutes neither team led by more than three points.
Idaho State led 63-60 after a layup by Boyd with 8:57 to play in the game. The Bobcats went on a 16-4 run to take a 76-67 lead with 4:10 remaining. Idaho State got no closer than five points the rest of the way.
Idaho State will be back in action against Montana in Reed Gym on Saturday Feb 16 at 7 p.m.
