ORANGE, Calif – The Idaho State women's tennis team showed its strength in a commanding 9-0 win over Chapman University today.
"The girls played really clean today," said Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney. "All worked on things that they needed to work on. Good solid effort."
Hristina Cvetkovic and
Megan Poe earned a tight 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles before
Louise-Mare Botes and
Alexandra Arkhipov secured an 8-2 win at court No. 2.
Madison Fenske and
Melissa Coburn completed the doubles sweep after breezing through their opponents for an 8-1 win.
Cvetkovic set the tone for singles, opening play with a strong 6-1, 6-0 win.
Walker had a spotless record in singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Botes won her singles match handily 6-2, 6-2.
Coburn showed her resolve, winning a tough-fought singles match 6-4, 7-5.
Poe and Fenske rounded out the singles competition rout. Poe won her match 6-2, 6-1 and Fenske finished out the singles competition with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Bengals are now 3-2 this spring. They return to action Feb. 11, at Point Loma University in San Diego, Calif.
