Bengals Host Weber State Friday and Saturday

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team returns to the field for a three-game series vs. Weber State beginning with a double header on April 12 at 2 p.m.  The two teams then play a single-game at 1 p.m. on April 13. All three games are at Miller Ranch Stadium and are free to the public. Live stats are available for all three games and games 1 and 3 of the series will be broadcasted on KISU and audio will be available at isubengals.com.

Scouting Weber State
Weber State enters this weekend with a 15-17 record and a 7-0 mark in Big Sky Conference play. Weber State hits .305 as a team. Takesa Saltern has a team-high .402 batting average. The pitching staff boasts a 5.24 era. Addie Jensen has a 2.86 era  and a 3-1 record in 29.1 innings of work. Tatiana Su'esu.e has a 4.10 era, a 5-8 record in 87 innings in the circle and Katie Donaldson is 6-5 in 71.1 innings.

Recapping Northern Colorado
Idaho State dropped a three-game series at Northern Colorado, losing 4-3, 4-2 and 9-1 in five innings. Emma Bordenkecher led the offense with a .545 average in the three-games, going 6-11. Haley Harrison was 5-10 at the plate and Aubrey Creekmore hit .429. ISU hit .286 in the three-games at Northern Colorado. The pitching staff had a 4.38 era. Idaho State committed seven errors in the three games.

4-Hit Games
Emma Bordenkecher's 4-4 game vs. Portland State on March 23 was not the first of her career. On April 22, 2017 vs. Weber State she was also 4-4 with three runs scored, three RBIs and one homer. This was the first four-hit game by the Bengals since Kacie Burnett did it on May 13, 2017 vs. Weber State in the Big Sky Tournament. That year Burnett had four four-hit games.

5-RBI Games
Emma Bordenkecher's five RBIs vs. Portland State was the second of her career. She also had five RBIs on March 25, 2017 vs. Portland State. Haley Harrison, Kacie Burnet and Ashley Ames all had five RBI games during the 2017 season. Ames had seven RBIs vs. Penn State on March 4, 2017.
 
Improved Pitching
The Bengal pitching staff has greatly improved since last year. In 2018, the Bengal pitching staff had a 5.98 era through 35 games. This year the pitching staff has a 4.15 era. Autumn Pease has the best era at 2.64. She has a 7-4 record in a team-best 85 innings of work.  Teams are hitting .228 off Pease.

Bordenkecher Improved at the Plate
Emma Bordenkecher hit .273 with two home runs and 20 RBIs in 2018. This year she is hitting .404 with seven home runs and 28 RBIs. As a freshman in 2017 she hit .281 with eight homers and 33 RBIs.
