POCATELLO, Idaho- Women's soccer fell to South Dakota State 2-0 on Aug. 25 in Brookings, South Dakota to end their 2019 opening weekend.
Â
The match remained scoreless throughout the first half as Idaho State played an aggressive defense to hold the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State scored both of their goals on corner kicks during the second half.
"I was very pleased with the first half performance, defensively we were solid and in the attack we created several very good chances via quick and accurate ball and player movement," Head Coach
Debs Brereton said. "Unfortunately the second half was a different story, conceding two goals via corners was a soft way to go behind."

The Bengals recorded four shots in the first led by senior midfielder
Makena Bambei with two shots and one on goal followed by junior midfielder
Marisa Hasebi and junior defender
Lauren McGahie who each had one shot on goal.

"Another tough lesson learned but the effort was always there which is so important," Brereton said. "Our confidence and performance is growing game by game and I look forward to opening up at home on Friday."
