POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's tennis team started its spring season by beating Seattle U 6-0 and losing to Boise State 7-0. Both matches took place in Boise.
In the win over Seattle U on Saturday, the Bengals earned the doubles point thanks to a 6-2 victory by
Patrik Trhac and
Gary Rendek and
Kyler Hartman and Yohann Prinson earning a 6-1 win.
In singles play,
Lukas Ridemar earned a 6-3, 6-0 win. Trhac won his match 6-2, 6-2 and Rendek earned a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Yohann Prinsen won 6-2, 6-3 while
Kyler Hartman won his match 6-0, 6-2.
Against Boise State, the Bengals lost the doubles point with Hartman and Prinson earning the lone 6-2 victory. The Bengals got swept in singles play.
"It was nice to start the season with a win," Interim Head Coach Mark Rodel said. "The guys came out and executed exceptionally well. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the match against Boise State. We played some strong doubles, led by
Kyler Hartman and
Yohann Prinsen at No. 3 doubles. We had to move
Lukas Ridemar from the lineup and that definitely affected the team. Boise came out and dominated the match. Overall I am pleased with the general attitude and effort. We know what we need to work on from here on out. We look forward to next week and this is a solid start to the year."
