POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State Director of Athletics
Pauline Thiros has announced the hiring of Robyn Sharp as the new Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Sports Performance/Senior Women's Administrator.
Sharp comes to Pocatello with an extensive career in college athletics, most recently spending four years at Northern Arizona.
"Robyn has been the SWA at Oregon State and Northern Arizona," Thiros said. "She has served in athletic departments in areas from fundraising to academic advising to student services. She has a breath of knowledge and understanding of what we do. In talking to many people about Robyn, it always came to the forefront the way she cares for student-athletes and the level of compassion she has for them. She was a basketball player at Oregon State and coached. She understands what our students and coaches experience every day. I couldn't be happier to add the characteristics she brings to our leadership team."
Sharp worked in fundraising at the University of Nevada and Oregon State. She also served as the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services/Senior Woman Administrator at Oregon State. Sharp also has experience at the conference level as she was Assistant Commissioner for the Big Eight Conference.
Prior to getting into athletic administration, Sharp was a four-year starter for the Oregon State basketball team and she also served as an assistant coach at Oregon State.
"I can't tell you how excited I am about joining Pauline's team," Sharp said. "We got to know each other a little bit at the Big Sky meetings. We think alike and think about the impact of decisions on a broader scale."
Sharp also brings an ability to develop a life skills program at Idaho State.
"Sometimes it is underestimated just how difficult it is to be a Division 1 student-athlete and to manage a full course load," Sharp said. "That will be a large focus."
Thiros added, "That is something at Idaho State we haven't had the capacity to build those type of programs for our student-athletes," Thiros said. "With COVID we have learned just how valuable those life skills are. We are excited that we have our entire team in place. Our leadership team is in a great place and everyone has embraced their responsibilities. Filling this position was the missing peace for us to excel at a whole new level."
