POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team beat Colorado Mesa 6-1 Sunday morning in Reed Gym.
"The girls did a lot of things well today," said Head Coach Gretchen Maloney. "They were very consistent and stayed in the points until they got the right ball to attack. In doubles we served and controlled the net well."
The Bengals recorded a sweep of the doubles matches to earn the point. Hristina Cvetkovic and Megan Poe defeated Kristen Kirby and Laura Alsing 6-1. Alexandra Arkipov and Angela Walker beat Rebecca Osterberg and Maike Waldburger 6-3. Adriene Pavek and Viktoria Pavlovets rounded out the doubles sweep defeating Carolena Campos and Lauren Thomas 6-3.
In singles play Cvetkovic earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kirby in No. 1 singles. Coburn beat Alsing 7-6 (6), 6-1 and Arkhipov beat Osterberg in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Walker beat Campos 6-1, 6-0 and Fenske defeated Thomas 6-1, 6-0.
The lone Bengal loss came When Poe played Waldburger. The match went back and forth with Waldburger eventually winning a close tiebreaker 4-6, 6-0, 10-8.
The Orange and Black are back in action Feb. 7-8 as they head to Logan, Utah to face Utah State and The University of Texas – El Paso.
