POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team lost to the Montana Grizzlies 64-58 on Thursday Night in Reed Gym.
Austin Smellie led the way for the Bengals in scoring with 10 points.
Malik Porter added nine along with four other Bengals scoring eight.
The Grizzlies out shot the Bengals 44.7 percent to 35.2 percent. The Bengals did manage to out rebound Montana 36-33.
Robert Ford III put the Bengals on top 4-2 with 17:36 to play in the first half. Montana would follow up with a 15-0 run and lead the rest of the game. The Grizzlies led 34-23 at half.
Daxton Carr started the second half off with a three to trim the lead down to eight. After back and forth play the Grizzlies would go on a 10-2 run to make the game 48-32 which 12 minutes left to play. The Bengals would crawl back and narrow the margin to four with 1:24 to play, but this was as close as it would get.'
ISU will returns to Reed Gym Saturday at 11:00 AM in a rematch against the Montana Grizzlies.
