Men's Tennis Travels to Bozeman for Two Matches

| By:
POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State men's tennis team returns to the court this weekend in Bozeman, Montana. The Bengals play Montana State on Saturday, February 6 at 6 p.m. and on Sunday, February 7 at 12 p.m.

"We are really excited to get back on the road and face another quality opponent," said Head Coach Alexander Free. "Montana State is a well coached team and we know they are going to be excited to get their season started."

Scouting Montana State
The match against the Bengals will be Montana State's first of its season. Montana State has five returners on its roster and five fresh faces. Montana State held a 5-4 record in 2020 before its season was cut short due to COVID-19. The last time the Bengals took on the Bobcats was in the 2019 season. The Bengals claimed the victory 5-2.

Previous Matches in Utah
The Bengals battled the University of Utah in a double-header this past weekend but fell 5-2 in both matches. The Bengals played strong doubles, claiming the doubles point in both matches against the Pac-12 school. Freshman player Hiroki Fujita came away with the lone singles win in both matches.

Despite the loss, the Bengals had many close battles that went to three sets and deciding match tiebreakers.

"I think we learned a lot in the past two weeks in situations where we have come really close and given ourselves opportunities to win," said Free. "Now we have to go back into the process of having a great week of practice and getting better each day in order to have the complete team performance that we need to get across the finish line."
