Bengal Softball Heads to Phoenix for Grand Canyon Invitational

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State softball travels to Phoenix this weekend to play in the Grand Canyon Invitational. The tournament runs from Friday, Mar. 19 to Sunday, Mar. 21.

The Bengals will face host Grand Canyon University and New Mexico State University. Southern Utah will also be in attendance but has no games scheduled against the Bengals.

Scouting New Mexico State

The Aggies are 9-12 on the season and have won seven out of their last 10 games.

NMSU is heading into the tournament coming off of a 12 inning 3-4 marathon loss to the University of South Florida.

Scouting Grand Canyon

The GCU Lopes are 9-13 on the season and team is 4-6 in their last ten games.

The team is coming off of a 2-12 loss to Baylor in the Lopes Up Classic.

GCU is hitting .284 as a team with 171 hits and 6 homeruns.

Gianna Nicoletti leads the Lopes with a .420 average and a .982 ops%

The Lopes pitching staff is throwing a combined 4.62 ERA.

Ryan Denhart leads the team with a 3.39 ERA and 26 strikeouts.
