Soccer Opens Conference Play Hosting Northern Colorado

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State Soccer team faces off against Northern Colorado in the first conference series of the 2021 spring season.

Game one kicks off Friday, Mar. 19 at 4 p.m. on the ICCU practice field. Game two is Sunday, Mar. 21 at 12 p.m.

The matches will feature Live Stats. Live video and audio will be available for the matches weather permitting.

"We are really looking forward to playing Big Sky Conference games again after 500+ days," said Head Coach Debs Brereton. "The team has come together brilliantly since August and our recent games provided us with some great learning opportunities that we couldn't have replicated in sessions. All of our newcomers have been exposed to some quality opponents that has prepared them well for Big Sky play. As a staff, we are very pleased with the upper classmen who continue to be arrowheads and set the standards to help us remain in a high performance mindset."

Big Sky Conference Divisional Schedule

The Big Sky Conference announced a revised version of the league's soccer schedule that includes divisional play for the 2021 spring season, as approved by the Presidents' Council this week.

 

Spring soccer play starts on March 12. The women will play a divisional schedule with five teams in the Northwest Division (Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, Portland State, and Sacramento State) and five teams in the Southeast Division (Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Southern Utah, and Weber State). Each team will play every opponent in their division twice in a Friday-Sunday weekend series at the same location. The schedule features two home series and two away series against each divisional opponent with one open week built in.

 

The top two teams from each division will advance to the 2021 Big Sky Women's Soccer Spring Championship. The tournament is scheduled for April 15-17 and will be hosted by Weber State in Ogden, Utah.

 

The Big Sky's tournament champion will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show will be held on Sunday, April 18, and the tournament will be played from April 23-May 15.
