POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State softball team wrapped up the Boyd Gaming classic in Las Vegas, Nev., falling to Seattle University 6-1.
The Bengals tied the game in the 4th at 1-1 when Skyler Sethman singled to shallow right field. The Redhawks would comeback in the 5th and add on five runs and hold that lead to win the game 6-1.
The Bengals were out hit 12-5 on the afternoon.
Mailee Newman gave up 11 hits in 4.2 innings pitched
Tournament Recap
The Bengals finished the 2021 Boyd Gaming Classic with a 2-3 record over three days.
The Bengal's two wins came against WAC opponent Utah Valley.
Over the course of the tournament the Bengals averaged a .263 hitting percentage.
Emma Bordenkecher led the team with a .462 hitting percentage a .692 SLG% and .533 OB%. The Bengal infielder recorded 6 hits and 4 RBIs from 13 at bats.
Sethman followed just behind with a .375 average.
Frankie Tago was perfect at first base this weekend with 32 put outs over five games. She was followed by Isabel Cargill and Rheanne Lewis who both recorded 13 outs with no errors.
Newman and Mareena Ramirez both picked up wins this weekend with Newman leading the Bengal pitching staff with a 6.30 era after facing a good UNLV and Seattle U teams.
Ramirez led the pitchers in strike outs with five and Emma Montoya followed with four.
Next Series
The Bengals are on the road next week as they travel to Orem, Utah to face Utah Valley University in a double-header Sunday, Mar. 14.
