POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's basketball team heads into the 2021 Big Sky Conference tournament as the No.4 seed. The Bengals play No. 5 seed Montana State on Thursday, March 11 at ICCU Arena in Boise.
Jerry Miller will call the action live on stretch internet. The game will be televised on Pluto TV channel 1050. Live stats are also available.
Idaho State is looking for its first win over Montana State since Jan. 1, 2018, a 101-78 win in Bozeman. The Bengals are 3-7 against Montana State in the last 10 meetings.
The meeting between the two teams on Feb. 18 and 20 was canceled due to COVID.

Idaho State has guaranteed itself a winning season season for only the seventh time since 1990. 2020-21, 13-10; 2015-16, 16-15; 2002-03, 15-14; 2000-01, 14-14; 1996-97, 14-13; 1994-95, 18-10; 1993-94, 19-8.
January and February success
Idaho State finished the month of January with a 5-2 mark. The .714 winning percentage is the best for the month of January since the 1994-95 team went 6-2 in the month (.750). Since 1994, this year's team is one of seven teams to win five games during the month. The defense shined during the month as it allowed only 62.7 points a game and held opponents to .402 percent shooting.
ISU went 3-2 in the month of February. This is only the third time since 1996-97 that the team has had a .500 record or better in January and February.
In 2015-16, the Bengals were 5-3 in January and February and in 1996-97 ISU was 5-4 in January and 4-4 in February.
Bengals in the Big Sky Tournament
The Bengals are 17-25 in the Big Sky Conference tournament. The win over NAU on
last year was the first tournament win since 2009. In 2008 and 2009 the Bengals hosted
first round games in Pocatello and beat Montana 67-65 in 2008 and Northern Colorado
67-60 in 2009. The Bengals then lost in the semi-finals to Portland State both years, 72-61
in 2008 and 61-53 in 2009.
The last time ISU won the conference tournament was during the 1986-87 season. The
Bengals finished the regular season 5-9 in league and tied for fifth and won the tournament by beating Nevada 92-81 in the title game.
Recapping Eastern Washington
Idaho State split a two-game road trip at Eastern Washington last week. The Bengals won 68-63 in game 1 and lost 75-62 in game 2. Idaho State shot 39 percent in the two games and Eastern Washington shot .445 percent. ISU averaged 65 points a game and EWU averaged 69 points. Neither team shot the ball well from the three-point line. ISU shot .267 percent and the Eagles shot .298 percent.
Robert Ford III led the Bengals in the two games. He averaged 16.5 points and eight rebounds.
Tarik Cool averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds.
Malik Porter averaged 11 points and 5.5 rebounds.
