Bengals Fall to Southern Utah 2-0

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State Soccer dropped the first match of the its series against Southern Utah University 2-0 Friday morning in Cedar City. The Bengals pressed for most of the game and had good looks at the SUU net but the Tbirds two goals in the first half proved to be the decider in the match.

"Very disappointed with the performance today," said Head Coach Debs Brereton. "Two defensive errors cost us two goals and we failed to put away the changes we worked hard to create for ourselves. We will make a few adjustments to prepare for our final game on Sunday where we are confident they will earn their first (and well overdue) win."

The Orange and Black played a hard-fought defensive game. Only allowing Southern Utah six shots with four on goal. The Bengals had five shots with four on goal.

Mckayla Wetsel had two saves on the day.

The Bengal defense also forced nine fouls out of Southern Utah compared to ISU's two on the game.

The two teams return to the pitch Sunday at noon to play the final game in the series and conclude the Bengals 2021 spring season.
