POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball continues its 2021 campaign this weekend as they head to the Lone Star State to face off against The University of Incarnate Word and St. Thomas in San Antonio.

Bengal Bites
·       Dani Devlin is leading the team with 16 kills on 40 attacks for a .325 hitting %

·       Devlin hit her 200th assist this weekend at the Bengal Invitational

·       Kennedee Tracy continues to lead the team in kills/set early in the season with 2.25/set.

·       Tracy broke the 200 kills milestone this weekend at the Bengal invitational and now sits at 206

·       ASSIST Battle - Bengal Newcomer Aliyah Sopoaga and Veteran Andri Dewey are battling to record the most assists. Aliyah so far is just edging out Dewey with a 48 assist / .324 percentage compared to Dewey's 42 /.299 Percentage.

·       Blocking Duo - Kaia Rhodes and Reagan Kunz have combined for 16 of the Bengals 25 blocks on the season so far look out for them at the net.

·       Freshman Sadie Bluth is leading the Bengals in points scored with 30.5 and 2.54 points per set.

Quick Scout St. Thomas
·       St. Thomas made the jump to NCAA DI competition this offseason.
·       The Tommies are 0-2 following losses to Green Bay and Ball State the past weekend.
·       The team is hitting at .101 percent with an average of 9.1 kills per set.
·       At the Net the Tommies are averaging 2.2 blocks per set.
·       Lauren Galvin leads the team offensively with 21 total kills averaging three kills per set.
·       Defensively they are led by Payton Willman who has 53 digs on the season and averages 2.29 digs per set.
This will be the first time that the Bengals and Tommies have faced off in the history of both programs.
Quick Scout UIW
·       The Cardinals are 2-1 on the 2021 season with two wins against The University of Texas – Arlington.
·       Their lone loss was in five sets against Abilene Christian University.
·       UIW is averaging 13.2 kills per set with a .204 attacking percentage while holding opponents to 12.3
·       At the net the Cardinals average 2.5 blocks per set.
·       Bethany Clapp leads the Cardinals offensively with 39 kills and a 3.90 points per set average. The Senior outside hitter is also averaging .290 attack percentage.
·       Clapp also leads the team in total digs with 77 and 2.80 digs per set
This will also be the first time that Bengals have met the Cardinals in the history of both programs.

Previous Match Recap – vs UTEP
Idaho State volleyball wrapped up the 2021 Bengal Invitational Saturday night. The Bengals battled tough against the University of Texas – El Paso before falling 3-0 (16-25, 24-26, 19-25).
After dropping the first set 16-25, the Bengals responded in set two. The two teams fought back and forth ferociously with 13 tie scores and four lead changes in the set.
25 points was not enough to determine a winner and set two went to extra points with UTEP capitalizing and winning the set 26-25.
The two teams continued to duke it out in the third with five ties and three lead changes before the Miners were able to pull away in the second half of the set and win 25-19 completing the sweep of the match.
The Bengals hit .180 as a team with Danielle Devlin leading the Orange and Black with eight kills and a .615 hitting percentage.
Aliyah Sopoaga led the team defensively with 15 digs, a new career high.Â
