POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team continues to learn and improve after splitting a double header against Salt Lake Community College on Sunday at Miller Ranch Field.
The Bengals fell short in game 1, losing 4-3, but rallied in game 2 to get a 9-5 victory.
"We have to find a way to play our game every time and not let other teams, other factors dictate how we play," Idaho State coach
Andrew Rich said.
One thing that Rich emphasized is that he wants the team to bring energy and enthusiasm each day, whether it is a game or practice.
"We've got to find a way to always bring energy, no matter who we're playing (or what the situation is," said Rich. "And that is just something we have to keep getting better at."
As a result of Rich and the team only being together for four weeks, Coach explained that it is a learning experience for everyone. But as much as it is a learning experience, it is not an excuse.
"We have to build," said Rich. "We can't take two steps forward and one step backward. And that's something that they're starting to understand and we'll keep working on over the next two weeks that we have when we (still) have four more games."
Rich also used the phrase, "keep moving forward" when talking about the learning process of the team. He hopes the team can take what they learn from one week and build upon it so they can apply it going into the next week.
The Bengals head to Logan, Utah where play Colorado Northwestern Community College at 10 a.m MST. Then at 3 p.m. MST, the Bengals play Utah State University.
