POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball fell in five sets (14-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19, 17-15) against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers Wednesday evening.
For the second night in a row, the match went back and forth all five sets as the Bengals and Buccaneers tied 25 times and had 12 lead changes throughout the match.
After dropping the first set 14-25, the Bengals came roaring back in set two and had a season-high .483 attacking percentage en route to a 25-20 set two victory.
The Bengals edged out the Buccaneers in set 3 25-23.
CSU came back to win set four 25-19 and force a decisive fifth set.
The Fifth set went back and forth with seven tie scores and six lead changes. 15 points wasn't enough to determine a winner and CSU barely edged out the Bengals 17-15 in the fifth.
Jamie Streit and Sadie Bluth both had career nights. Streit had a career-high 17 kills on 42 attacks for a .262 attacking percentage. Bluth also had a career high in kills with 13.
Aliyah Sopoaga had a double-double with 17 assists and 11 digs.
Asiah Sopoaga led the team in digs with a career-high 29. That mark ties her for 11th all-time in single game digs in the ISU record book.
Andri Dewey passed the 1300 Assist milestone and now sits at 1330.
The Bengals won the battle at the net for the second night in a row, out blocking the Buccaneers 13-7. Kaia Rhodes had another big night with seven blocks tying her career-record.
The Bengals are back on the court on Friday as they open the College of Charleston Volleyball Classic.
