POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State volleyball concluded its 2022 season Wednesday morning in Ogden, Utah. The Bengals fell 3-0 to the Northern Colorado Bears and ISU ends its season 13-16.
The Bears controlled sets one and three to win the match.
In set two, the Bengals held a lead until midway through the set, the Bears put together a run to retake the lead and hold onto it through the win.
While the loss is hard, this Bengal squad overcame a hurdle this season that has plagued the program for the previous four years, not making the Big Sky Tournament.
Through ups and downs this season, the Bengals persevered and earned a spot in the tournament.
The program had its share of positive memories from the season.
Senior Setter Andri Dewey made a name for herself in the ISU record book, closing out her career with 2485 assists, 7th all-time in Idaho State Volleyball history.
Emrie Satuala started her career brightly. The Freshman middle earned spots in the ISU record book for single-season attack percentage and solo blocks. Just before the tournament started, Satuala earned outstanding freshman honors from the Big Sky Conference.
Against Prairie View A&M on August 28th, the Bengals ROARed from the service line, their 16 service aces ranked the team 3rd all time and Danielle Devlin and Rachel Driskell both tied for fourth all-time in the ISU record book in single-game aces with 5.
While they lost in the tournament, the Bengals head into the offseason with the knowledge now that they can win, they can break records and they can make the tournament.
The loss hurts but the future is bright.
