Bengals Are Unable to Complete the Comeback, Fall 76-70 to Tommies

Box Score Pocatello, ID- The Idaho State men's basketball team fell to the St. Thomas Tommies, 76-70, Saturday night in Reed Gym. 

The Bengals battled the Tommies closely all 1st half, trailing by only six, 38-32. Down the stretch for every punch Idaho State threw St. Thomas had an answer. As the Bengals looked to make a comeback in the final minutes the Tommies continued to make free throw after free throw and stave off the Bengal comeback. 

Brayden Parker was the shining star for the Bengals tonight, finishing with 28 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. Parker shot a perfect 11-of-11 from the field, setting a new ISU record for field goals made in a game while shooting 1.000, including one three-pointer. Miguel Tomley was able to contribute 13 points and five rebounds while Austin Smellie tallied nine points and five rebounds himself. Brock Mackenzie also finished with eight points and four rebounds.


The Bengals shot 47.2 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep making nine three-pointers on 25 attempts. The Bengals assisted on 14 made shots, and out-rebounded the Tommies 33-24. The Tommies were able to stave off the Bengals late comeback attempt as they finished 18-19 from the free-throw line, making 12-of-13 in the final 10 minutes of the game. The Tommies finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from deep making eight of their 17 attempts.
