Bengal Softball Wraps Up Silicon Valley Classic

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State softball wrapped up the 2022 Silicon Valley Classic Sunday Morning in San Jose, Calif. The Bengals (12-13) fell to the UC Davis Aggies 3-0.

The Bengals were unable to get the offense moving with just three hits in the game.

The first two innings both teams remained scoreless until the Aggies opened up the game in the third scoring three runs.

In the sixth, the Bengals put runners in scoring position but were unable to score and the Aggies closed out the game in the seventh ending the game with a 3-0 victory.

Skylar Sethman had two hits on three attempts. Frankie Tago went one-of-three.

Emma McMurray pitched four innings, giving up five hits and three runs wth two strikeouts.

Mareena Ramirez came in as relief and in three innings had two strikeouts with no runs and no hits allowed.

Silicon Valley Recap

The Bengals finish the 2022 Silicon Valley Classic with a 2-3 record over the weekend notching wins against San Jose State and Santa Clara.

Sethman finished the tournament batting .500 with five hits, a slugging percentage of .600 and an on base percentage of .500.

Four other Bengals finished the weekend hitting over .300; Frankie Tago at .385, Piper Tago at .375, Brook Richards at .375 and Gracie Smith hit .333.

Two Bengals finished with two doubles P. Tago and Richards.

In all the Bengals out hit opponents 39-29 and had a team batting average of .289

In the circle, Haley Rainey finished the weekend with a 1-1 record playing in four games and pitching 14.0 innings. Rainey allowed five runs on 14 hits and struckout 12 batters.

Mareena Ramirez finished the weekend 1-0 and played in two games with 8.1 innings pitched. In her win against Santa Clara Ramirez struck out a career high eight batters and finished the weekend with 10 strikeouts and only six hits and three runs allowed.

On Deck

The Bengals return to the Mountains next week to play at Utah State in Logan, Utah. The Bengals will match up with Utah State, BYU and Maine.
