Nick Alaimalo Named Running Backs Coach

POCATELLO, Idaho- Idaho State Head Coach Charlie Ragle has announced the hiring of Nick Alaimalo as the programs new running backs coach.

Alaimalo comes to Idaho State after spending two years at Robert Morris as the run game coordinator.

In his first season on the sidelines in 2019, Alaimalo helped the Colonials post an overall record of 7-5 (.583), including a mark of 6-1 (.857) in the Northeast Conference (NEC). He was crucial to the development of running backs Terence Stephens, Jr., and Alijah Jackson, who combined for 1,479 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Jackson was named to the 2019 All-NEC First Team after ranking second in the NEC in rushing (88.3 yards per game) and third in all-purpose yards (103.5).

Prior to joining the staff at RMU, Alaimalo served as a graduate assistant running backs coach in Salt Lake City, Utah, with the University of Utah. He also served as recruiting quality control for Arizona State.

Alaimalo spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 (Minority internship) and he coached and mentored running backs Devontae Booker (New York Giants) and Zack Moss (Buffalo Bills)/ 

Alaimalo, a native of Carson, Calif., earned a bachelor's degree in business administration at New Mexico Highlands University in 2008 and also earned his masters of business administration (MBA) in human resources management, also from New Mexico Highlands, in 2012. During his collegiate career, Alaimalo played at El Camino College in 2004 and  New Mexico Highlands from 2005-07, where he played both running back and linebacker.
