POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men's tennis team won its fourth straight match over Sacramento State, winning 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento.
Idaho State won the doubles points thanks to victories by
Patrik Trhac and
Aleksandar Petrovic at No. 2 doubles (6-2) and
Hiroki Fujita and
Ege Cankus at No. 3 doubles (6-4).
In singles play, Trhac pulled out a 7-6, 7-6 win at the No. 2 position.
Patrick Kristensen won 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles while
Ege Cankus won 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 6 position.
"This was a really gutsy team win," Idaho State coach
Alexander Free said. "
Patrick Kristensen played most of the match on one ankle and just found a way to dig deep and gut out a tough victory. Ege and Pat did a great job doing their job and pulling out tough matches. This is a great step for us towards our goals in the conference and we need to work on things and regroup to play another tough match tomorrow."
Idaho State closes out its California road trip tomorrow with a contest at Saint Mary's.
