Bengals Outlast Sac State 4-3

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State women's tennis team improved to 3-1 in Big Sky Conference play and 10-4 overall after a beating Sacramento State 4-3 on Saturday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif.

"Super proud of this team today," Idaho State coach Gretchen Maloney said. "Once again they kept fighting and believing that they deserve to win. We had some external challenges that could have made a difference and they didn't let those bother them. I am super proud of this group."

The Bengals won the doubles points thanks to victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Megan Lang-Gould and Alexandra Arkhipov won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles and the doubles point was clinched thanks to a 7-6 win by Hana Cho and Leah Kuruvilla.

In singles play, Idaho State earned victories at the No. 1, 2 and 5 positions.

Cho won 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Lang-Gould won 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Kuruvilla won 6-4, 6-4. The game-clinching match came when Cho won set three 6-3.

Idaho State returns to the courts on April 1 at Montana and April 2 at Idaho.
