POCATELLO, Idaho- The 2021-22 season came to an end for the Idaho State men's basketball team. The Bengals lost to Portland State 66-52 in the opening round of the Big Sky Men's Basketball Tournament.
The Bengals led 30-28 at halftime but was outscored 38-22 in the second half.
Liam Sorensen led the Bengals 14 points. He was the only player in double figures.
Idaho State outrebounded the Vikings 43-24.
Jared Rodriguez had a team-best eight rebounds and
Austin Smellie had seven to lead the team.
Idaho State shot 32 percent from the field and did not make a 3-pointer. ISU had 20 turnovers, 14 coming in the second half.
Idaho State trailed 23-18 with 4:59 left in the first half. The Bengals then went on a 12-0 run to lead 28-23 with 1:40 remaining.
In the second half Idaho State shot 22 percent from the field in the second half as the Vikings built a double digit lead late in the second half.
