POCATELLO, Idaho- In a game that had 34 combined runs, the Idaho State softball team lost 19-15 to Portland State on Saturday afternoon at Miller Ranch Stadium.
Idaho State scored its 15 runs on 13 hits and committed three errors in the field while PSU had 16 hits.
Angelica Cano led the offense with three hits and scored three runs. Brooke Richards had a team-best four RBIs on two hits.
Rheanne Lewis,
Frankie Tago and
Mailee Newman all had two hits.
The Bengals trailed 8-0 after the top of the first inning. The Bengals then scored five runs in the bottom of the first and second to take a 10-8 lead.
Lewis led off the first with a homer to right field. ISU scored its five runs on three hits.
In the second inning, ISU scored five runs on four hits and Richards highlighted the inning with a two-RBI double down the left field line.
After an eight run third inning, ISU scored four runs in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 16-14.

Portland State had one run in the fifth and two in the seventh  to lead 19-14.

Idaho State had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh but was unable to finish the rally.
