SACRAMENTO, California- The Idaho State volleyball team finished up two road conference matches against Portland State University and Sacramento State.
In the match against Portland State, we saw the Bengals take down the Vikings in 4 sets, winning 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23).
Asiah Sopo'aga led the way for Idaho State in this match, finishing with 13 kills, while
Sadie Bluth and
Jaydin Watts, finished with 11 kills apiece.
Aliyah Sopo'aga led the way in assists, finishing with 36. On the defensive end of the floor the Bengals put on a clinic, having
Asiah Sopo'aga and
Jamie Streit finish with 18 digs each and
Lily Liekweg finish with 17. Idaho State also dominated at the net, outblocking the Vikings 14-6, led by
Jaydin Watts (7),
Marci Richins (6), AND
Asiah Sopo'aga (5).
For the second match on the weekend the Bengals took on the Sacramento State Hornets. In this match the Bengals fought hard all match, but came up short falling in straight sets (25-19, 26-24, 26-24).
Jamie Streit led the team with 11 kills followed by
Sadie Bluth who had 9 kills.
Aliyah Sopo'aga tallied 24 assists. On the defensive end for Idaho State
Lily Liekweg and
Aliyah Sopo'aga finished with 15 digs while
Asiah Sopo'aga had 13. The Bengals outblocked the Hornets in the match 12-10, behind
Marci Richins (6),
Jaydin Watts (5), and
Aliyah Sopo'aga (5).
After the 1-1 weekend the Bengals move to 4-14 on the season and 2-5 in conference play.
Idaho State volleyball will be back home in Reed Gym for their next two matches, facing off against Northern Arizona on Thursday, October 19
th at 7 p.m. and Northern Colorado the following day, Friday, October 20
th at 7 p.m. as well.
