Idaho State Volleyball Drops Final 2 Regular Season Matches

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona- The Idaho State volleyball team completed their final two matches of the regular season this week. Taking on Northern Colorado on Thursday and Northern Arizona on Saturday.

In the match versus Northern Colorado, we saw the Bears sweep the Bengals, as the Bengals fell 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-17). Meline Robarge led the way for the Bengals in this one, finishing with 8 kills, and Jamie Streit was right behind her with 6 kills. Aliyah Sopo'aga led the way in assists, finishing with 14 while Lauren Mena also chipped in with 4. On the defensive end of the floor the Bengals were led by Lily Liekweg who finished with 12 digs. Marci Richins led the way at the net, with a game-high of 5 blocks, and Meline Robarge finished with 4.

For the second match on the week the Bengals took on the NAU Lumberjacks. In this match the Bengals fought hard, but could not get it done. Falling to Northern Arizona in straight sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-21). Sadie Bluth and Marci Richins led the Bengals on the offensive end, tallying 6 kills apiece, while Jamie Steit finished with 5. Aliyah Sopo'aga led the way in the assist department, totaling 20. Jamie Streit had a team-high 11 digs and Asiah Sopo'aga had 9. The Bengals tallied 10 team blocks, behind Sadie Bluth (4), Marci Richins (4), and Peyton Michaelson (3).

After the weekend the Bengals fall to 8-19 on the season and 6-10 in conference play.

Idaho State volleyball has clinched the 8th seed in the Big Sky Conference tournament! The tournament takes place next week over the Thanksgiving break, November 22nd – 24th, in Greeley, CO. The Bengals will be taking on the 1st seed in the first round which currently is Sacramento State, but we will have to wait until after games tonight to see who it will be for sure.
