POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State softball fell to Iowa State and Fresno State day two of the Fresno State Kickoff Classic.
The day started with a hard-fought game with Iowa State. In the bottom of the second inning. Piper Tago reached after being hit by a pitch, Morgan Hess then followed with a double to right. With two on, Ava Brown stepped up to the plate and hammered a triple scoring two runs, Brown was then able to score on an Iowa State error to give the Bengals a 3-0 lead.
The two teams battled back and forth before Iowa State relied on an explosive sixth inning to take the lead and secure the 7-4 win.
In game two, the two teams battled for two innings before the Bulldogs used a five and four-run fourth and fifth inning to extend the lead to 10 and take the five-inning victory.
The Bengals wrap up the Fresno State Kickoff Classic 2-2. Brown was named to the all-tournament team after finishing the weekend with a .727 batting average.
Six different Bengals finished the weekend hitting over .300. The Bengals hit .333 as a team and outhit opponents 31-30.
Idaho State heads next to San Luis Obispo on Tuesday, Feb. 21 for a doubleheader with Cal Poly.
