Bengals Look to Bounce Back Against Lumberjacks

Pocatello, ID- The Idaho State men's basketball team will be on a quick one-game road trip to Flagstaff, Arizona to take on the Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks for the second time this season on Monday, February 5^th at 6 p.m. In the teams' first matchup on December 29^th, we saw the Bengals put on a dominant performance against the Lumberjacks in Pocatello, winning the game 79-53.

Northern Arizona comes into the game with a 6-18 record on the year and 2-9 in Big Sky Conference play, losing their latest matchups against Montana State and University of Montana last week. The Lumberjacks are averaging 71.5 points per game on 42.2 percent shooting from the field and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.

The Bengals will look to stymie the Lumberjacks behind their shut-down defense. Idaho State's defense has been locking their opponents up this season holding opponents to just 30.9 percent from three-point territory (1^st in the Big Sky), 44.4 percent shooting from the field, and average 6.2 steals per game (3^rd in the Big Sky).

The tip will be at 6 p.m. in the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff, AZ and Jerry Miller will call the game on KISU.

Weber State University Recap
The Bengals and Wildcats battled back and forth through two overtime periods in front of a season-high crowd of almost 1,700 people in Reed Gym. While close, the wildcats were able to win the game on a last-second layup for a final score of 72-71.
 
Brayden Parker led the Bengals with 23 points on seven-of-19 shooting. The Bengal forward hit a layup with eight seconds left in the second overtime before Weber was able to convert the game-winning layup.
 
Brock Mackenzie was the only other Bengal in double-digits, scoring 11 points, and going three-of-five from the three-point line.
 
The Wildcats won the rebound battle 33-30 and the Bengals had 16 turnovers to Weber's 15.
