POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball fought valiantly for 40 minutes in Boise, Idaho as they fell 73-58 to Portland State in the opening round of the 2023 Big Sky Women's Basketball Tournament in Boise.
After a season filled with injury and adversity, the Bengals made it to the Big Sky Tournament. Instead of keeling over and giving up, the short-handed Bengals fought for 40 minutes.
Even in the loss, Laura Bello put together one of the top-performances in Bengal women's basketball history. Controlling the post all game, Bello scored a career-high 30 points on 10 of 21 shooting from the floor. Bello was very strong on the glass, grabbing 15 boards
Carsyn Boswell and Bridee Burks combined for 19 of the Bengals' points.
ISU finished the game with 10 turnovers and scored eight points off of the Viking's 11 in the game.
The Bengals next get some needed rest as they finish up the spring semester.
