TAMPA, Florida - The Bengal volleyball team finished up their tournament in Tampa, Florida hosted by the University of South Florida where they took on USF, Mercer, and FGCU.
In the match against USF, we saw the Bengals fall to the Bulls in four sets, 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15).
Jaydin Watts and
Sadie Bluth led the way for Idaho State in this match, each finishing with nine kills apiece, and sophmore,
Meline Robarge, finished with eight.
Aliyah Sopo'aga finished the match with 20 assists. On the defensive end for Idaho State
Aliyah Sopo'aga finished with 13 digs and
Lily Liekweg, had 10.
Following their first match of the day Idaho State looked to bounce back and end their doubleheader with a win, but could not get it done against the Mercer Bears, falling in three sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-12).
Jamie Streit led the team with eight kills followed by
Sadie Bluth and
Jaydin Watts, who had six kills each for ISU.
Aliyah Sopo'aga ended the match with 17 assists, and on the defensive end for Idaho State libero,
Lily Liekweg, had eight digs and
Sadie Bluth finished with seven.
For the Bengals final match of the tournament, they faced off with the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles. The Eagles took it to the Bengals as FGCU won in straight sets 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-21).
Sadie Bluth led Idaho State in kills with 11 and
Aliyah Sopo'aga had nine.
Aliyah Sopo'aga also led the team in assists with 25, and on the defensive end
Lily Liekweg had 13 followed by
Aliyah Sopo'aga who had 11.
Idaho State volleyball returns home to Reed Gym on Monday, September 4
th for a clash with the UC Davis Aggies at 11 a.m. Following this match the Bengals will kick off their Idaho State Tournament on Thursday, September 7
th – Saturday, September 9
th where they will be hosting the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Utah Valley University Wolverines.
