Pocatello, ID – Idaho State soccer endured a tough Big Sky Conference road trip, falling 0-3 to Eastern Washington on Thursday and 0-4 to the University of Idaho on Sunday. Despite strong individual performances, the Bengals were unable to overcome two formidable opponents.
Game 1: Idaho State vs. Eastern Washington
In Thursday's contest against Eastern Washington, the Bengals fought hard but were ultimately outmatched by a sharp Eagles attack. Eastern Washington opened the scoring in the 31st minute and never looked back, adding two more goals in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory.
The Bengals struggled to find their rhythm offensively, with
Peyton Dion and leading the attack with 4 shots (3 on goal) but was unable to convert any chances. Idaho State managed six shots on goal, but Eastern Washington's defense held firm, with Kamryn Willoughby denying a few quality scoring opportunities.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper
Trinity Hale was once again a standout for Idaho State, recording 13 saves on 26 shots faced as she faced consistent pressure from Eastern Washington's offense.
Despite Hale's efforts, the Eagles capitalized on offensive opportunities to extend their lead.
Game 2: Idaho State vs. University of Idaho
Sunday's matchup against the University of Idaho proved to be another difficult outing for the Bengals, as they fell 0-4 in a physical and fast-paced contest. Idaho's offense was relentless, putting 16 shots on target (22 total), while the Bengals were unable to break through Idaho's defensive line.
The Vandals opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a goal by Sienna Gonzales, and by halftime, the score had extended to 2-0. The Bengals struggled to contain Idaho's attack, with four Vandals players finding the back of the net as Idaho secured the win.
Despite the lopsided scoreline,
Trinity Hale delivered another career showing with 12 saves, keeping Idaho State in the match. Offensively,
Peyton Dion led the Bengals with two shots on goal, but Vandals' goalkeeper Paula Flores made key saves to earn the shutout.
