POCATELLO, Idaho - The Idaho State softball team dropped two games in Boise Friday afternoon. The Day started with a narrow 5-3 loss against St. Thomas and ended with an 8-1 loss to Boise State.
Despite the losses,
Olivia Robison had a standout day for the Orange and Black, Homering in both of the games with three RBIs
In game one of the day, St. Thomas took an early 3-0 lead in the first. After a back-and-forth 2nd, the Bengals got on the board after a Camryn Mcdonald single up the middle, scoring
Ava Brown.
The Bengal offense stalled on multiple attempts as the game went on. The Bengals were able to get runners on but could not score until the top of the seventh.
Gracie Smith led off with a walk.
Olivia Robison then came up to the plate and had an absolute battle with the St. Thomas pitcher. On the eigth pitch after three-straight foul balls, Robison blasted a ball over the center field wall and the Bengals cut the lead to 5-3.
The Bengals were unable to close the gap and fell 5-3 to the Tommies.
Game two against the Boise State Broncos started off with a bang.
Olivia Robison, coming off a two-run homerun in game one, blasted a one-run homerun over the left center wall to give the Bengals an early 1-0 lead.
The Broncos responded with an offensive explosion, scoring five runs in the first inning.
The two teams then battled back and forth for the next three innings before Boise was able to score abother three runs in the bottom of the 4th to make the game 8-1.
The Bengals were unable to get any offense going for the remainder of the game and Boise State closed out the game for the 8-1 win.
The Bengals are back in action tomorrow at 12:00 PM for a rematch with St. Thomas.
