POCATELLO, Idaho – The Bengals men's tennis team hosted Utah State and Northern Arizona on the weekend, their match vs. NAU would mark the third Big Sky Conference match of the season for Idaho State.
In ISU's Friday morning match vs. Utah State, the Bengals' #1 & #2 doubles teams would earn the wins, giving Idaho State the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
DOUBLES
De Pellegrin/Sklenka (ISU) def. Alkotop/Goubin (USU) 6-4
Rawson/Lamothe (ISU) def. Rigby/Fenollar (USU) 6-2
Nobel/Pasanen (USU) def. Ciguenza/Bouman (ISU) 6-1
The Bengals battled hard in singles play, but could not translate their previous success in doubles play over.
Valentino De Pellegrin and
Sam Wensley would be the two ISU players to come out with wins in their singles matches.

Following the tough 3-4 loss to Utah State, the Bengals needed to bounce back for a conference matchup against the Big Sky preseason favorites, the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Sunday morning.
In doubles play
Jowan Rawson &
Quentin Lamothe earned the 7-5 win, however, the other two ISU teams would fall, and the 'Jacks would take the doubles point.

Idaho State would give it their all in the singles matches, but
Valentino De Pellegrin would be the lone Bengals to earn a victory.

Following the 1-6 loss to NAU, the Idaho State Bengals will fall to 6-8 overall on the season and 1-2 in Big Sky play.
"Credit to NAU for playing tough in all matches. You always know what they are going to bring and they got us today,", said Bengals' HC Oliver Good. "We look forward to improving some areas before some great tests next weekend."
UP NEXT
Up next for the Bengals, they will go on a 3-match roadtrip in Colorado. First up they will take on the University of Denver in Denver, CO. The Pioneers just dropped out of the ITA Top-75 rankings last week. Following their match against UD, the Bengals will take on Air Force at the Air Force Academy in Colorado, and their roadtrip will be capped off with a neutral site match at the USAFA against Marist College.
