POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team hosted rivals, the Idaho Vandals, on Saturday morning for Senior Day in a battle for 3
rd place in the Big Sky Conference standings.
Prior to the match starting the Bengals honored their two seniors,
Victor Sklenka &
Jowan Rawson.
Head Coach,
Oliver Good, shared what both players have meant to the team and program, "Victor has been a huge part of our team for the past three years, and having him along with Valentino to help pass on what our program stands for this year has been huge.
Jowan has also brought great maturity and competitiveness to our team this season, and they're both going to going to be missed, but we still have a lot of tennis [this season] left still."
In doubles play, both teams would compete well, but the Bengals would find a way to come through in the #1 and #2 matches, winning the doubles team point.

The Bengals and Vandals battled in singles play, but with the match tied at 2-2, Idaho State would sweep the 3 remaining singles matches, with
Quentin Lamothe getting the clincher in the #4 singles match.

Following the 1-0 weekend of play Idaho State improves to 10-10 overall on the season and 4-2 in Big Sky play, passing Idaho for 3rd in the Big Sky standings.
Good shared his thoughts on his team's performance against the Vandals, "It was great to have a win on senior day… another great team effort. We set the tone in the doubles, then every line competed really hard in the singles against a quality team.
We've got a big next week ahead so we'll rest up for a couple of days before being ready to go again on Thursday."

Up next for the Bengals, they will play their last two regular season conference matches before heading to Phoenix, AZ for the Big Sky Championships. Up first, ISU will travel to Cheney Washington to take on EWU on Thursday, April 17
th, before heading to Portland, Oregon to face off against Portland State in the Bengals' regular season finale on Saturday, April 19
th.
