Women's Tennis Dominates Eastern Washington in Must-Win Match, 6-1

CHENEY, Washington – The Idaho State women's tennis team traveled to Cheney, Washington for their most important conference match of the season, as the Bengals and Eagles would battle for the 6th and final seed in the Big Sky Championships.

ISU came out firing in doubles play, earning victories in the #1 & #2 doubles matches to claim the doubles point.

DOUBLES
Shoybek/Shalakhova (ISU) def. Foshee/Mann (EWU) 6-1
Zarovna/Day (ISU) 6-2 def. Vasic/Pradel (EW) 6-1
Mikkelson/Grymalska (ISU) vs. Khirwar/Bean (EWU) 2-5, unfinished

Idaho State would keep the momentum rolling in singles play, walking away with winning 5 out of 6 singles matches, and a 6-1 win over Eastern Washington.

Victoria Grymalska (ISU) def. Sara Vasic (EWU) 6-0, 6-3

"The team played very consistent and clean", shared HC Gretchen Maloney. "We tried a new lineup for doubles and it paid off. The ladies controlled their mental game and emotions much better this match."

Following the win, Idaho State will improve to 10-11 on the season, and 3-5 in Big Sky Conference play. With the win the Bengals conclude their 2025 regular season, and will await the results of Eastern Washington's final 2 matches against Montana State and Montana to see if the Bengals will qualify for the Big Sky Championships in Phoenix, AZ. The Bengals need the Eagles to lose one or both of their final two matches to make it in.
