Men's Tennis Finishes Utah Road Test 0-2

PROVO, Utah – The Idaho State men's tennis team dropped a pair of road matches over the weekend, falling 1–6 at No. 71-ranked Utah State on Friday before narrowly coming up short in a 3–4 decision at No. 41 BYU on Saturday.

(Friday – Logan, Utah)

"Utah State was too good today," said head coach Oliver Good. "They came out and did the basics well in doubles then started faster in the singles matches. We'll learn from this and be ready to go for tomorrow."

Doubles

Utah State secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, putting the Bengals behind early in the dual.

Singles

Idaho State earned one point in singles play, with multiple matches extending to deciding sets.

  • No. 1 Singles: Valentino De Pellegrin defeated Jean-Baptiste Badon, 2–6, 7–6 (8–6), 1–0 (10–7).

  • No. 2 Singles: Sam Wensley fell to Xavier Calvelo, 2–6, 1–6.

  • No. 3 Singles: Sep de Visser fell to Roman Venger, 2–6, 6–7 (5–7).

  • No. 4 Singles: Luka Vujacic fell to Eliot Nobel, 1–6, 1–6.

  • No. 5 Singles: Lewie Bouman fell to Jakub Medved, 2–6, 2–6.

  • No. 6 Singles: Hayden Ciguenza fell to Eemil Pasanen, 6–4, 4–6, 0–1 (8–10).

(Saturday – Provo, Utah)

"We competed well today, however BYU came through with the doubles point," Good said. "There were a lot of positives from today's match that we'll build on as we get ready for our first conference match at NAU next week."

Doubles

BYU claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three in a tightly contested opening session.

Singles

Idaho State battled back in singles, earning three victories and pushing the match to the final courts before falling 3–4.

  • No. 1 Singles: Valentino De Pellegrin defeated Adam Chodur, 3–6, 6–3, 7–6.

  • No. 2 Singles: Sam Wensley fell to Tygen Goldammer, 3–6, 2–6.

  • No. 3 Singles: Sep de Visser defeated David Duong, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4.

  • No. 4 Singles: Luka Vujacic fell to Caden Hasler by retirement, 3–6, 0–3.

  • No. 5 Singles: Hayden Ciguenza fell to TJ Wells, 3–6, 4–6.

  • No. 6 Singles: Tyler Dalos defeated Brennon Chow, 7–6, 3–6, 1–0 (10–7).
