Women's Hoops' Tasia Jordan & Kacey Spink Named to Big Sky All-Conference First Team

Basketball is a team game but it sure helps when you have individual players with talent that
can produce.

The Idaho State women's basketball program had a lot of both this year as they rang up a 19-10
record overall, 12-6 in Big Sky play and a solid fourth place finish heading into next week's
games in Boise in the post season tournament.

The Bengals overcame another long run of serious injuries and a tough schedule to garner that
record and the coaches from around the league noticed.

Friday afternoon the league announced the selections for the post season all-Conference teams
and ISU had two players on it as graduate senior Tasia Jordan and senior Kasey Spink were both
named to the first team. Spink was also named to the all-Defensive team for the third
consecutive season.

It marked the first time ISU had multiple players named to either the first, second or third
teams since the 2021-2022 campaign when Tomeika Whitman, Estefie Ors and Diaba Konate
were honored. That was the second of the back-to-back years when Idaho State won the
regular season title.

Spink never was a big scorer in her career but she literally did everything else and her numbers
back that up.

The engineering major is sixth all-time with 811 rebounds heading into the Boise tournament.
She's only the sixth player in ISU program history to collect over 800 of them. She's also the all-
time leader in steals with 283 and has scored 910 points. 40 times she's had games where she's
scored at least 10 points with her high of 22 coming against Portland State. Her career high in
rebounds is 15 and three times she's had seven steals in a contest, one off the program record.
She also, far and away, was the team leader in floor burns as there never seemed to be a loose
ball that she wasn't on the ground for trying to get possession of it.

Jordan meanwhile was one of the most athletic players to ever grace the floor at Reed Gym.
Despite being only 5-7 she could dunk a regulation women's basketball and do a standing 360
back flip. Her ability to race down the floor, stop on a dime and drill a jump shot were
unmatched in the Big Sky and if defenders were guarding her tightly she had the speed and
shiftiness to blow by them for a layup opportunity.
This is her second all-Big Sky selection as last year she was named to the second team.

In her time at ISU she's scored 942 points and if a knee injury didn't cause her to miss half of
her first year on campus she'd be well over a thousand points. She's had 50 double-figure
scoring games with a high of 30 set this past February against Portland State. She also had 351
rebounds with three games where she grabbed 10 of them.

The Bengal team was in film study Friday for Sacramento State, who they'll play at noon
Monday in Boise, but head coach Seton Sobolewski took a moment to talk about two of his
players getting first team honors.

"We are very proud of Kacey and Tasia," he said. "These honors are a reflection of their efforts
and commitment to the team."

In his 18 seasons as head coach Sobolewski has now had 17 different players get first, second or
third team all-Conference recognition. The total number is 24 overall since some players made
the postseason all-Conference teams multiple times.

If there were any surprises among the winners it was the fact that the Bengals post player Piper
Carlson, wasn't even given any Honorable Mention votes. She's averaging 11 points and over
eight rebounds and has some of the best offensive moves in the paint in the league.
