POCATELLO, Idaho -- Venus Yong closed with a 1-over 72 to finish tied for third, the best finish of her career, and Idaho State moved up a spot on Tuesday to take second place at the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate at Missoula Country Club.

The Bengals improved their team score in every round, going 311-302-300 for a 61-over 913, the eighth-lowest 54-hole total in program history. Idaho State's final-round 300 was the second-best team round of the day and allowed the Bengals to overtake Portland State, turning a five-stroke deficit entering Tuesday into a three-stroke edge for second.

"The team fought hard on a tough Missoula Country Club course," head coach Todd Loveland said. "I'm really proud of how the team was able to strategize their first day play into a strong round 3."
