DALLAS, Texas – Idaho State women's soccer closed out its two-match road trip Sunday afternoon, falling 0-6 to SMU at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.

Fresh off of a 2-0 shutout victory at Nebraska-Omaha on Thursday, the Bengals were unable to carry that momentum into their matchup with the Mustangs. SMU scored twice in the opening 15 minutes before pulling away with four goals in the second half. The loss moved Idaho State to 2-3-2 on the season.

SMU opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Brooke Bunton found the back of the net. Bunton struck again just 1:18 later, giving the Mustangs an early 2-0 advantage.

Idaho State settled in following the early SMU surge and kept the Mustangs off the scoreboard for the remainder of the opening half. Aliya Garrett made a save in goal, while the Bengal defense limited SMU to five total shots over the first 45 minutes.

The Bengals generated their best opportunity of the opening half in the 32nd minute when Samantha Fenske put an attempt on frame, forcing a save from SMU goalkeeper Aubrey Brown. Lena Bonnard followed with another attempt moments later as Idaho State looked to cut into the deficit before halftime.

SMU regained control quickly after the break, with Julianne Richter scoring just 42 seconds into the second half to extend the Mustang lead to 3-0.

Idaho State continued looking for a response. Stephanie Roper put an attempt on goal in the 57th minute, forcing a save from Jessi Curry, while Saydree Cooke added another shot in the 62nd.

The Mustangs eventually pulled away with three more goals over the final 27 minutes. Londynn Hagan scored in the 64th minute, Bunton completed her hat trick less than three minutes later and Jessica Osborne closed out the scoring in the 80th minute.

Idaho State used all three of its goalkeepers in the match. Garrett played the opening 45 minutes and made one save, Hannah Wieler took over after halftime and recorded a save, and Talon Bennett played the final 6:33.

SMU finished with an 18-5 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. The Mustangs also held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Bonnard led Idaho State with two shots, while Cooke, Roper and Fenske each recorded one. Roper and Fenske accounted for the Bengals' two shots on goal.

Despite Sunday's result, Idaho State returns home having split its two-match road swing. The Bengals opened the trip with a strong performance at Omaha, scoring once in each half and recording their second shutout victory of the season.
