Bryce is the son of Dick Balenseifen and Rebecca Landry. He was born on February 8, 1997 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Father played basketball at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK. Mother was on the Pom Squad at Oklahoma State University.
Bryce ran Track and Cross Country at Oklahoma State University for 3 years. While on the track team at Oklahoma State, Bryce suffered from several injuries, one of which required surgery. Bryce temporarily spent time as a shot putter, but then returned his focus back to running the middle distances.
A fun story about Bryce: He retired from Track and Cross Country on April 9th of 2018. In the fall of 2018, he was working as a Server at Buffalo Wild Wings when he decided he wanted to run again. He then began to communicate with coaches about his desire to return to the sport of running. Once Coach Houle reached out to Bryce, it was game over. When asked about why he chose Idaho State, Bryce said “Coach Houle’s record of developing athletes is absolutely undeniable. The team loves him. I love him. I love this team. Combine all of that with the mystical allure of Pocatello, Idaho, and it was really a no-brainer for me. I’m beyond excited to be a Bengal!”
