Anthony Tucker enters his second year as wide receivers coach at Idaho State. In 2011 the Bengal wide receiving corp set numerous records led by the play of Rodrick Rumble who was named to four All-American teams while setting a school and Big Sky record for receptions with 112. Rumble's 1,348 receptions yards was the second most in program history and his 218 receiving yards at Washington State was the best single-game performance by a Bengal receiver. Derek Graves also caught 15 receptions at Northern Colorado, the second most receptions by a Bengal in a single-game.
Tucker comes to Pocatello after working with the football program at Colorado as the offensive technical assistant.
Prior to Colorado, he served as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Calif., from 2006-09. In 2008-09, he also coached the wide receivers in the Best of the West Quarterback and Wide Receiver Skills Camp in Lakewood.
He spent four years in the NFL, originally signing as a free agent with the New York Giants in 1999 and earning a spot on the Giants’ practice squad in 2000. He was allocated to NFL Europe from the Giants in 2001 and played for the Amsterdam Admirals. He signed with the St. Louis Rams in 2002 and then suffered a career-ending leg injury.
A three year letter winner at Fresno State as a wide receiver from 1994-98, he led the team in receiving yards as a junior in 1997 when he had 32 catches for 414 yards and three touchdowns.
He graduated from Fresno State in 1999 with a bachelor of science in criminology. He was a WAC Scholar Athlete and was a member of the dean’s list three times and earned President’s list honors one time for having a 4.0 grade point average.
A football and track and field star at Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, Calif., under coach John Barnes, the winningest coach in Orange County history, he helped his team compile a perfect 14-0 record his senior season in 1993 to win the school’s third straight CIF championship. He was a team captain on the track, where he participated in hurdle and sprinting events.
He was born February 27, 1976 at the Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. He lived in Seoul, Korea for a year as a child. He has been a boxing enthusiast most of his life and also studied film, commercial and improvisational acting in Philadelphia. He enjoys reading and considers himself a novice film editor.
