Todd Bates is entering his second season at Idaho State as the defensive line coach. Bates, who is an East Alabama native played for the University of Alabama from 2001-2004 and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Business Management.
While playing for the Crimson Tide, Bates was the only true freshman to play for the Tide in 2001. He was also selected SEC Defensive Player of the Week twice, and named permanent team captain for the 2004 season.
After college, Bates played for the Tennessee Titans as a defensive end in 2005 and 2006 seasons.
Bates spent the last three years at Oxford High School where he was an assistant football coach for the yellow jackets as well as the head strength and conditioning coach. While at Oxford, Bates coaches four defensive lineman who went on to sign Division I scholarships.
Todd is also the founder of Todd Bates Enterprises LLC and the annual Todd Bates Football Skills Camp www.toddbates.org. Bates is married to his college sweetheart La’Tesa and they had their first born child Angel Maylene Bates February 1, 2011.
