Bio:

Stephens (a.k.a. "B-Stevez") was promoted to Associate Athletic Director of Sports Performance and Wellness in the fall of 2024. Here at Idaho State, he oversees the men’s basketball and softball program, however he has extensive experience working with all of the other athletic teams here at Idaho State. In addition to overseeing the Sports Performance department, Stephens serves as the S.A.A.C. Advisor, Sport Administrator for Volleyball, co-administrator for Women’s Golf, and coordinates the holistic life skills programming for our student-athletes.

 

He was previously Idaho State's Director of Strength and Conditioning starting in January of 2021. Originally Stephens was hired in March of 2020 as Idaho State University’s Assistant Director, Strength and Conditioning.

He comes to Pocatello from Western Colorado University (WCU) where he was named the university's first full-time strength and conditioning coach in 2017. Prior to his hiring at WCU, he worked as a graduate assistant from 2015-17.

While working as a graduate assistant, Stephens oversaw the programming and training of the Mountaineer Football, Wrestling, Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball teams. In 2017, he obtained his Masters of Science in High Altitude Exercise Physiology and was part of the program's first graduating class.

 

Stephens grew up in Gunnison, Colorado, graduated from Western State Colorado University in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science emphasizing in Exercise Science as well as Sport Marketing and Management. 

 

Before sustaining a career-ending shoulder injury in 2012, Stephens was a one-year starter for the Mountaineers at outside linebacker and multiple positions on special teams. After his playing career ended, he joined Coach Bains' football staff as a Volunteer Student-Assistant both on the field and in the weight room. Stephens ran individual drills for various positions, scout team meetings and practices while assisting with game breakdowns, scouting reports and pregame warm-ups.

 

Stephens graduated from Gunnison High in 2009. Brandon was originally born in Fremont, Nebraska and is the son of Kristi and William Stephens. He also has two younger siblings, Brooke and Joshua.

 

Stephens holds his CSCS and RSCC certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, is a Certified Strength Coach – Level 1 through Eleiko Education, is a certified Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting, and is Sports Science Certified through TeamBuildr. Brandon also holds his Pn1 certification through Precision Nutrition, his certification in Mental Performance Mastery, and is certified as a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper.

 

Brandon is now married to his longtime college sweetheart, Kyra Stephens (formerly Miller). They currently live together in Pocatello, Idaho with their pups, Gambit and Nyx.
