Cam Clark enters his first year as Assistant Coach for Idaho State men’s basketball. Clark was hired by Ryan Looney in July of 2023.
Clark comes to Idaho State after serving as the Assistant Coach at Salt Lake Community College last season, helping the Bruins to a 29-5 record and earning a No. 5 seed in the NJCAA tournament, Chadron State College (RMAC) for the 2021-22 season, and Lamar Community College (NJCAA) for the 2020-2021 season, where in Clark’s first year he helped lead Lamar to a third-place finish in Region IX. Clark oversaw the player development and assisted in developing one first team all-region forward who was the #9 scorer in the country. He also developed a second team all-region guard who finished as the #17 scorer in the country. Clark assisted in helping two players move on to the NCAA D1 level.
Prior to moving to Lamar, Coach Clark played four years at Southwestern College (KS) where he was named a four-time All-American. During his freshman year, Clark earned Freshmen of the Year honors. During his senior year, Clark led the 2015-2016 Moundbuilders to their first national tournament appearance in over a decade. Clark is also Southwestern’s all-time leading rebounder at 1,131 career rebounds and broke his predecessors record to become Southwestern’s all-time leading scorer at 2,450 career points during his tenure at Southwestern College.
Additionally, Clark is the fifth all-time scoring leader among men’s college basketball players in the state of Kansas, and the only player in Southwestern College history to surpass both the 2,000-point plateau and the 1,000-rebound mark in his four years. Clark played professional basketball overseas from 2016-2020 in numerous countries such as Finland, Ireland, Republic of Georgia, Luxembourg, and Morocco. He earned Honorable Mention accolades in Finland, and won the Cup Finals Championship in Ireland, where he was named Cup Finals MVP.
Clark is a Lewisville, Texas native and received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and is currently working on his Doctorate of Education from Southwestern College.
