Chris McMillian enters his second season as an assistant coach for Idaho State men's basketball. He was hired by new head coach Ryan Looney in 2019.
During his first season, McMillian helped lead the Bengals to their first Big Sky tournament victory since 2009.
McMillian came to Idaho State after serving as the Director of Player Performance at University of Illinois Chicago, where he oversaw the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning program for the men's basketball team for the past 4 years.
From 2009-10, McMillian was the Director of Operations at Centenary College. From 2010-14, he served as the men’s basketball strength coach and video coordinator for two years and the Director of Basketball Operations for two years at Hawaii. From there, McMillian was an assistant coach at College of Southern Idaho from 2014-15 where he worked for now Associate Head Coach Jared Phay.
McMillian played at Wyoming from 1998-2003. He started all four years and led the Cowboys to two Mountain West Conference championships and one NCAA tournament berth.
A native of Brea California, McMillian graduated from Wyoming in 2003 with a degree in communications. He received his Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of Hawaii in 2013. McMillian is a certified member (CSCS) of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
McMillian is engaged to Megan Bricker and the two have two daughters named Zoe Rae (3 yrs old) and in June of 2020 the couple welcomed their second, Cam Nicole
